Man arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in woman's death

Jesse Gladney, 37, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a woman Saturday night, police said.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman Saturday evening, Westminster police said.

Around 8 p.m., police said a caller reported a possible domestic violence incident in the 12000 block of Melody Drive. It's just northwest of the intersection of Interstate 25 and West 120th Avenue.

The caller was able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect vehicle, which left the scene before officers arrived.

Shortly after sharing the suspect vehicle information with surrounding agencies, Thornton police received a call about a woman who had been shot in a car in the 12000 block of Colorado Boulevard. The description of the car matched that given by the original caller.

Officers were unable to locate the vehicle, police said.

Authorities then received information from a local hospital about a shooting victim who had died from his injuries, police said.

Police identified Jesse Aaron Gladney, 37, as a suspect in the shooting and booked him into the Adams County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Investigators have been in contact with the driver of the vehicle and said no charges are anticipated for that person.

The victim's identity and cause of death will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
