Man arrested on multiple charges, including injuring police officer

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A 46-year-old man was arrested Friday after a deputy responded to an animal welfare complaint at a residence in the town of Wyocena, the County Sheriff's Office reports. Columbia.

According to the sheriff's office Facebook page, officers spoke with the man and learned he had several open cases with felony bail conditions preventing him from consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages.

The deputy noticed signs that the man was impaired and possessed alcoholic beverages. Authorities say the deputy tried to arrest the man for violating bail, but he resisted.

The man allegedly fought the deputy for several minutes until other deputies were called to the scene. He was eventually arrested and taken into custody.

Authorities say during the investigation, a search warrant was conducted at the residence and several firearms were found. The suspect is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The man was taken to the Columbia County Jail and faces several charges, including resisting a police officer causing soft tissue injury, felon in possession of an X4 firearm and felon in possession of OC X2.

Two deputies received treatment for injuries they suffered while attempting to arrest the suspect, deputies report.

The sheriff's office did not say whether any animals were found during the check.
