Man arrested on Father's Day, accused of murdering elderly mother and burying her body in apartment

A man is accused of a string of crimes that began with the murder of his mother near Philadelphia and ended with his arrest for assaulting a police officer in Washington.

William Michael Ingram, who has a criminal history, was also charged with damaging a Washington police vehicle.

He told several officers during his arrest Sunday that he killed his mother, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said.

Then DC police called Bucks County authorities, who went to Dolores Ingram's condo for a welfare check.

Northampton Township police first reported seeing “blood on a window sill and more blood smeared on the walls, windows and floor inside” of the first-floor unit of Ingram.

Additionally, “the furniture inside appeared untidy” and “the living room appeared to have been emptied except for a pile of clothes, towels/sheets, furniture, and other household items in the room.” far right of the living room.

Authorities said the 82-year-old man “appeared to have suffered severe head trauma and was buried under a pile of household items, including furniture and clothing.”

The cause of his death is under investigation, but the murder is believed to have taken place around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said “loud bangs” woke up a neighbor who “checked her home camera and at 1:42 a.m. the camera showed William Ingram running out of the apartment, shirtless.”

“He came back a minute later.

“A few hours later, at 10:03 a.m., the camera showed William Ingram leaving the residence. He was wearing a shirt and a duffel bag.

Police also said they found William Ingram's vehicle in the parking lot, but not his mother's.

License plate readers at the time indicated that “the vehicle was moving away from the residence.”

On Monday, William Ingram, 49, “was charged with stealing his mother’s vehicle. Additional charges against him will be filed in due course,” Pennsylvania authorities said, referring to his mother’s death.

They did not mention extradition or a possible motive.

In 2019, William Ingram was arrested in Pennsylvania and “the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana,” Upper Southampton police said.

Then, “Ingram attempted to deceive the officer by stepping on the marijuana and grinding it into the asphalt. »

He was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also driving with a suspended license.
