Man arrested on animal cruelty charges in Richmond after Pomeranian dies

A man has been arrested on animal cruelty allegations after a violent incident involving a teacup Pomeranian in Richmond.

On June 28, Fort Bend Precinct 1 Constable deputies responded to an emergency call at a Cinco Ranch veterinary clinic regarding an injured animal.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Pengfei Ji, during an argument with his wife at their Richmond residence, allegedly inflicted serious injuries on his teacup Pomeranian.

Surveillance footage revealed Ji grabbed the dog by its back legs, swung it over its head and threw it against a doghouse several times before throwing it into the yard. The dog succumbed to its injuries and was pronounced dead at the veterinary office.

Ji, 31, was taken into custody by officers from Precinct 1 on a third-degree felony count of cruelty to animals other than livestock. He was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

“This leaves me speechless,” Constable Chad Norvell said in a news release. “I’m glad we were able to put him in jail and bring him to justice for his horrific actions.”
