Man arrested in connection with Tryon shooting

The shooting happened Memorial Day weekend on Markham Road.

TRYON — On Sunday, May 26, Tryon Police Department deputies responded to a call of a shooting at a residence on Markham Rd. in Tryon.

According to Acting Police Chief Scott Holt, officers arrived on scene around 8:45 p.m. and found the victim, Antwan Miller of Tryon, with an apparent gunshot wound.

Miller was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. At the time of publication, he is still under the care of medical professionals but is expected to make a full recovery.

“His recovery is going well,” Miller’s daughter said Monday. “He just has a long road ahead of him.”

Authorities arrested Josh Michael Robinson, 31, of Forest City, in connection with the shooting. Robinson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and booked into the Polk County Detention Center under a $60,000 secured bond.

Acting Chief Holt said an investigation is currently underway to obtain more details about the shooting.
