A Lincoln man has been arrested in Omaha in connection with the fatal shooting of two men early Saturday outside a men's club in southwest Lincoln.

Earlier in the day, Lincoln police identified Jones, 39, and Silva, 40, as the men were shot and killed shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday after an argument involving them and a third person outside the office near West Van Dorn Street and US 77.

Both were shot multiple times and taken to hospital, where they died from their injuries.

Tuesday morning, police said they were looking for the person who shot them.

LPD spokeswoman Erika Thomas said that after reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, investigators determined Johnson was the person responsible.

They tracked him to Omaha, where he was arrested after a foot chase Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to the Douglas County Jail on a warrant. Thomas said he would be extradited to Lincoln at a later date.

She said investigators believe the shooting happened after an argument outside the club between the three men and that Silva and Jones did not have any weapons on them.

Thomas called it an isolated incident and said police do not believe there is an ongoing public safety issue.

She asked anyone with information or video of the incident to call LPD's non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.

LPD plans to hold a press briefing Wednesday to provide more information about the double homicide.

Saturday's deaths at the strip club come less than a year after BSR Inc., which does business as The Office Gentlemen's Club, was sued by the parents of a woman who worked there , alleging that staff negligence led to the wrongful death of their daughter.

According to the suit, on November 30, 2021, Taryn Griffith, 24, was a customer at the Lincoln club, where she also worked, when another customer gave her a painkiller pill that, unbeknownst to her, was laced with fentanyl.

Their attorney said BSR failed to provide first aid or call 911 for help. She died at home a few hours after taking the tablet.

With Saturday's double homicide, there have now been five murders in Lincoln this year.

On May 18, Xavian Sawyer, who was a student at Lincoln East, was fatally stabbed once in the chest and once in the abdomen during an argument at a residence in the 3000 block of North 64th Street. Stephen D'Amore, 14, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder for the stabbing.

On April 9, the Lincoln Police Department responded to a reported shooting at an apartment in the 1100 block of G Street around noon. When officers arrived, they found John Armstrong, 52, of Lincoln, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head; He was pronounced dead at the scene. Jacob Mulloy, 53, of Lincoln, turned himself in and was charged with first-degree murder.

On April 7, a security guard fatally shot Greg Little, 32, of Lincoln, outside the Royal Hookah Bar & Lounge at 1619 O St. Police have not charged the security guard in the case.
