Man arrested for running car theft ring

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE CADDO PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE:

A man is under arrest for running a Caddo Parish car theft ring, Sheriff Jay Long said.

On June 18, Sheriff's Detective Adam Jones and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Demarcus Clements, 34, at Bally's Casino in downtown Shreveport. Clements faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of stolen property, unauthorized entry of a place of business and theft of a motor vehicle.

Sheriff's detectives believe Clements stole more than 21 vehicles in Caddo Parish. He was first investigated in 2022 for the theft of several vehicles from the Union Pacific Railroad's Reiser yard at 7555 West Bert Kouns. After stealing the vehicles, he altered their appearance by covering their original paint with vinyl film.

A search warrant obtained during the investigation led to the discovery of key evidence confirming that Clements was the ringleader in the theft of 18 additional cars from the Greater Shreveport Auto Auction on Greenwood Road.

When Clements was located, he attempted to flee on foot but was successfully apprehended by Detective Jones and Task Force agents. Clements was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on multiple arrest warrants.
