A case has been registered in Thane against a man for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman and attempting to traffic her for sale of her kidney, PTI reported on Sunday.

According to the FIR, the accused Rahul, with aliases like Vasim, Chandan and Kundankumar, allegedly sexually assaulted the woman at her home in Nalasopara area a few days ago, PTI reported.

According to the official, the accused was apparently in contact with two other women for the trafficking of the 20-year-old for the purpose of selling organs.

According to the PTI report, after being threatened by him to do the “job”, the two women took the 20-year-old to the hospital on Saturday to hand her over to Rahul. However, the plan did not come to fruition, the official said.

Meanwhile, a fourth woman who got an idea of Rahul's activities informed the police. Based on her complaint, police booked Rahul for rape and human trafficking under the Indian Penal Code, he added.

Thane doctor's bail plea in rape case rejected by court

A court has rejected the bail plea of a Thane doctor arrested for allegedly raping a woman after promising to marry her. The 32-year-old Thane doctor was denied bail as the court said he could tamper with evidence since the investigation in the case is underway, PTI reported.

The court, according to the PTI report, said, “Tampering of evidence is possible in case of grant of bail during the pendency of investigation. »

Additional Sessions Judge Premal S Vithalani, while denying bail to the Thane doctor, said, “Therefore, in my opinion, considering the stage of investigation, seriousness of the offense and the facts of the case, no case for grant of bail is made out. »

He is understood to have issued an order in the matter on June 11 and a copy was made available on Tuesday.

The judge, in his order denying bail to the Thane doctor, said the verdict on the bail application should be given keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case. Justice Vithalani said, “Every application for bail must be decided taking into account the facts and circumstances of the case in question. There cannot be a binding formula for granting or rejecting bail applications. »

The prosecution reportedly said the Thane doctor and the 27-year-old woman became friends in 2017 and he proposed marriage in 2020.

The PTI report added that the woman approached the police earlier this year, after which an FIR was registered against him for rape and criminal intimidation. The Thane doctor, the report said, was arrested on May 7 after the court rejected his anticipatory bail plea on April 24.

According to the PTI report, the protection had challenged the Thane doctor's bail plea, claiming that he had exploited the woman with false promises of marriage and threatened her with further sexual relations.

The court examined the evidence, according to the PTI report, which included mobile phone records and an audio recording provided by the informant's counsel. The court said: “On examining the facts of the case, it has to be determined whether the accused deserves bail. There is no doubt that the informant consented to physical intercourse. Many photographs showing intimacy have been placed on record by the accused's counsel.”

However, it is alleged that due to the accused's false promise of marriage and threats of making images and videos of sexual activities viral, the informant gave his assent, the court said, adding that “certainly, such consent cannot be considered as a valid consent under law.”
