Man arrested for murder after stabbing in Manhattan subway station

MANHATTAN, NY— Early on Saturday, June 22, at 2:10 a.m., New York Police arrested Diego Figueroa-Hepner, 24, in connection with a fatal stabbing. The arrest took place at 725 West 172 Street, in the 33rd Precinct.

Figueroa-Hepner faces charges of intentional murder and criminal possession of a weapon. This follows a distressing event on Friday, June 21, when police responded to a 911 call at 5:55 p.m. reporting a stabbing at the 175th Street and Fort Washington Metro station. When they arrived, the police found Johnny Medina, 40, with several stab wounds to his torso.

Medina was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation into Medina's death remains active and further updates are expected as authorities move forward.

    QUEENS, NY—Saturday morning, local authorities were called to a residence located at 251-22 58 Avenue in response to a 911 call reporting an unconscious woman. Upon arrival around 8:59 a.m., police found Kate Tierney, 44, unconscious and with visible signs of trauma to her back.

    Emergency medical services personnel pronounced Tierney deceased at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to determine the cause of death as the investigation continues. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the 111th district.
