Man arrested for hit-and-run that left two people in critical condition near Walnut Creek Market

(KRON) – A man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that struck two people at Walnut Creek Market Sunday morning, according to the Walnut Creek Police Department.

The hit-and-run happened at Locust Street and Cole Avenue. Firefighters and police responded around 5:15 a.m. Officers located two people who were struck by an SUV and seriously injured. Both victims were transported to a hospital, where they are in critical condition.


Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and arrested him. The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time, according to police.

Locust Street is closed from Giammona Drive to Lacassie Avenue in Walnut Creek all day Sunday, police said.

Due to the collision that left the streets in disarray, the Walnut Creek Farmers' Market on Locust Street is also closed Sunday. According to Walnut Creek Market, the market will be open next Sunday.
