Man arrested for fatally stabbing Filipina woman near Yokohama station

YOKOHAMA — A man was arrested after a woman was fatally stabbed with what appears to be a knife on a street near JR Yokohama Station on the evening of June 9.

Around 7:45 p.m., a passerby called police and reported that “a woman collapsed and was bleeding” on a street in Yokohama's Nishi district. According to the Tobe Police Station of Kanagawa Prefecture, Alice Gemao Isozaki, 57, a Filipino national living in the area, was stabbed multiple times in the chest and other parts of the body and was pronounced dead to the hospital where she was taken. . The police officers who arrived on the scene did not find the murder weapon.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Sachio Ando, ​​33, a self-described unemployed resident of the Tokyo suburb of Machida, went to a police station at the west exit of the Yokohama police station. He told police he had killed a person and Tobe police station made an emergency arrest on suspicion of murder. The suspect had a knife on him when he surrendered, which was seized by the police. It is believed he did not know the victim.

The crime scene is about 350 meters southwest of the west exit of JR Yokohama Station, in a city center lined with restaurants and other businesses.
