Man arrested for carjacking, kidnapping in North Fair Oaks

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 27-year-old man after he allegedly carjacked an occupied vehicle in North Fair Oaks around 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

The man allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle, but fled and then got into a second vehicle that was occupied, according to a department news release. He got in the front passenger seat and forced the driver to turn around at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Pacific Avenue before jumping out of the car and running away.

Sheriff's deputies saturated the area and quickly located the man at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Middlefield Road. He was arrested and booked into Maguire Correctional Facility for carjacking, kidnapping and parole violation.

The sheriff's office said no weapons were used in the alleged carjacking and no one was injured.
