Man arrested for breaking and entering into multiple vehicles after citizen report

TAR HEEL, NC (WECT) – A man was arrested after a call identified him as breaking into multiple vehicles at a tire store in Tar Heel on June 17.

The caller told Bladen County 911 that the suspect was still in the area and provided a clear description of the vehicle and clothing. Officers quickly found Christopher Darryle Hawkins, 49 of Fayetteville, at a nearby gas station. An investigation immediately began and video footage showed Hawkins committing the crimes.

On June 17, 2024, Bladen County 911 received a call regarding the break-in of multiple vehicles at a tire store in Tar Heel. The caller indicated the suspect was still in the area and gave a clear description of the suspect's vehicle and clothing. Police quickly responded and were able to locate the suspect at a nearby gas station. An immediate investigation was launched and video footage was received showing the suspect committing the alleged crimes.

Hawkins was charged with six counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, criminal possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $250,000 bail.
