Man arrested for attempted murder

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station say an ex-boyfriend who showed up at his ex-girlfriend's home with a gun and fired shots over the weekend had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Daniel Ponce, 29, is being held at the station jail on $2 million bail, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department custody records available online.

Deputies from the SCV Sheriff's Station responded to the emergency call in the 28800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, according to an email from Deputy Kabrina Borbon, a spokeswoman for the station. Sheriff of the SCV.

The call involved a woman reporting that her ex was armed and trying to break into her home. The initial report indicated the call may have involved domestic violence, but the station's detective bureau was not immediately available to answer questions Tuesday.
Preliminary information available did not indicate whether anyone had been targeted; however, a deputy at the scene confirmed to The Signal on Sunday that .45 caliber shell casings were found during the investigation.

Deputies also responded to calls of shots fired in the area around the same time, between David Way and Vasquez Canyon Road.

Los Angeles County fire officials were present as deputies responded, but no injuries were reported.

As of Tuesday, there was no indication that any weapons had been recovered during the investigation.

No information was available Tuesday from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office regarding possible charges.

Ponce was given a court date Wednesday in San Fernando.
