A local man was arrested Thursday on a warrant for battery following allegations he attacked his 64-year-old father last month, hitting him in the head with a blow brass knuckles at one point.

Nathan Renard Willis, 33, who lists an address on Grove Street, was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. in the 400 block of Freeman Street and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 'to 10 years in prison.

Willis was being held on zero bond and was scheduled to appear in Garland County District Court on Friday. He was convicted of robbery in 2010 and sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to court records. He was convicted of misdemeanor third-degree domestic battery on May 17, 2018, and sentenced to six months probation and 90 days in jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Willis' father came to the Hot Springs Police Department on May 26, around 12:30 p.m., to report a battery that had occurred earlier that morning.

He told police he was at his home on Grove Street when his son, identified as Willis, came and accused him of stealing from him. An argument ensued between the two men and Willis allegedly punched him in the face.

Willis then allegedly began kneeing him in the face, causing his nose and lips to “swell and bleed.” When the father tried to defend himself, Willis allegedly pulled out a pair of brass knuckles and hit him in the head, causing “a large laceration.”

Willis left shortly after and the victim was able to bike to the police station for help. Officers on scene took photos of the victim's injuries which they said “matched her statement.”

As the victim was 64 and over 60, which her son was aware of, the level of violence was increased. An arrest warrant for Willis was issued Tuesday.
