Man arrested and charged with assault, sex trafficking in Sacramento County

(FOX40.COM) — A A 20-year-old man was arrested by deputies Friday after allegedly attacking a woman with a gun and being involved in pimping and pandering activities.according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

The agency said its officers responded to a call of an alleged assault on Watt Avenue and a woman said she was with a second woman when a man approached them and “hit her several times with a gun” before leaving.

Officers found the second woman and a man matching the suspect's description at a nearby hotel and were able to arrest him.

The sheriff's office said the second woman told deputies she was a victim of sex trafficking.

Detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the hotel room and found paraphernalia “contaminated with fentanyl,” an unregistered gun with an illegal 31-round magazine, “indicia of a sex worker and several digital devices “, said the sheriff’s office.

The second woman was connected with the Family Justice Center, which connects crime victims with several services.

The man was arrested on several criminal charges, including pandering and pimping, and was previously out on bond on other criminal charges, the sheriff's office said.
