Man arrested after stabbing 60-year-old woman and two others in Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – A man was arrested after stabbing several people in the Charlotte area Wednesday and Thursday. according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Josiah Maitland, 19, was arrested Thursday in connection with three separate stabbing and responsible for the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury x3
  • Attempted murder x2
  • Armed robbery

The attack on the 60-year-old man happened around 6 p.m. along Randolph Road and Sam Drenan Road.

Police said Maitland attacked the woman with a knife as she left work and then fled.

A second stabbing was reported Thursday along Old Mt. Holly Road near Rozzelles Ferry Road.

Officers said a man was riding his moped to a safe location to make repairs when, suddenly, Maitland approached and stabbed him multiple times. Maitland showed up again before authorities arrived.

As police continued to work leads, they received another call about an assault on Freedom Drive near Interstate 85.

This time, another female victim was stabbed on a CATS bus.

After the assault, officers were finally able to find and arrest Maitland.
