Man arrested after pursuit in Rock County.

WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) – The Walworth County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday it arrested a man after he walked away from deputies during a traffic stop.

On Sunday, two officers stopped a driver who had illegally tinted side windows and no front license plate.

During the traffic stop, officers smelled marijuana and asked the man to get out of the car. Instead, the man allegedly accelerated, hitting one of the officers in the arm.

The two officers returned to their car and pursued the man south on I-43 in Rock County. A Wisconsin State Police officer deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop the man's vehicle.

The man swerved his car to avoid the spike strip, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into the median. Police said the man was traveling about 110 mph at the time of the crash.

Clinton Fire and EMS responded to the crash.

Officers said they found about a half-pound of marijuana in separate packages intended for distribution, 20 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, and other THC ingestion products.

The man was issued 16 traffic tickets and is charged with eluding a traffic officer, driving while intoxicated, battery on public officials, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession with intent to deliver THC, authorities said.
