Man arrested after police chase speeds over 100 miles per hour and cornfield search – KBSI Fox 23 Cape Girardeau News

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Cairo, Illinois man faces charges in Carlisle County, Ky. after a police chase at speeds over 100 miles per hour .

Terrell Jones, 21, of Cairo, Illinois, faces charges of speeding 26 mph or more, fleeing or eluding a police motor vehicle 1st degree, 1st degree fleeing or evading police on foot, 1st degree wanton endangerment of police, resisting arrest. He also faces numerous other traffic-related offenses.

The Carlisle County Sheriff's Office received a request for assistance from the Ballard County Sheriff's Office on June 15 at approximately 11:30 p.m. regarding a vehicle pursuit on eastbound KY 286 involving a silver Dodge Charger with plates Illinois license plate.

Ballard County Sheriff's deputies relayed information that the vehicle was traveling more than 100 miles per hour.

As the pursuit entered the community of Gage, the vehicle turned around and headed west again on KY 286.

Sgt. James Campbell of the Ballard County Sheriff's Office attempted to deploy spike strips in the vehicle's path, but sheriff's deputies say the driver swerved toward Sgt. Campbell, almost hitting him.

Sgt. Campbell managed to ram several tires on the vehicle and render it disabled near Wilson Road and KY 286.

That's when police say the driver got out of the vehicle and began running away.

Deputies from Ballard, Carlisle and McCracken counties saturated the area in an attempt to find the driver.

Around 4 a.m., William Crafton, a drone operator with the Carlisle County Rescue Squad, found a heat signature in a cornfield in the 4900 block of KY 286.

Jones was arrested.
