Man arrested after deadly shooting in Sacramento County

A 47-year-old man is charged in a fatal shooting in Sacramento County, the sheriff's office announced Friday. Joseph Demarco now sits in the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to jail records. The shooting happened June 9 around 12:20 a.m. at Fulton Avenue and Hurley Way, the sheriff's office said. Officers who responded to the mall parking lot found a man with a gunshot wound and attempted to provide medical treatment. The man was sent to the hospital but died from his injuries, the sheriff's office said. Detectives and investigators eventually found Demarco in the mall parking lot. Arden-Arcade after reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses, the sheriff's office said. Demarco has a $500,000 bond and is due in court June 20, according to jail records. The identity of the man killed has not yet been released. Deputies also did not release details about a motive for the shooting, or whether the two men knew each other. The man was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives and investigators eventually found Demarco in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood after reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses, the sheriff's office said.

Demarco has a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 20, according to jail records.
