Man arrested after carjacking, attempted stabbing in Hanford, police say | YourCentralValley.com

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested after allegedly trying to stab a victim while she was sitting in their car, the Hanford Police Department said.

On Tuesday, officers said they responded to the 200 block of 12th Avenue South in Hanford around 8 p.m. for a report of a man attempting to steal a vehicle while armed with a knife.

Upon arrival, police said the suspect, later identified as Clinnon Brown Jr., 23, had barricaded himself inside the victim's vehicle. Brown refused to follow the commands given by the officers and refused to exit the vehicle.

After several minutes of trying to get Brown out of the vehicle, Hanford police said officers broke the vehicle's passenger window due to the doors being locked. Brown was taken into custody without further incident on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and presenting a deadly weapon, as well as probation violation.

Investigators say it was determined throughout the investigation that the victim showed up to his vehicle where they found Brown sitting in the driver's seat. Brown was holding a knife at the time and attempted to stab the victim while chasing her around the vehicle. Brown then barricaded himself inside the victim's vehicle once officers arrived on scene.

No one was injured in the incident and the knife was recovered, police said.
