Man appears in court charged with murder of teenager Joe Scott at West Denton bus stop

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of teenager Joe Scott at a city bus stop.

The 19-year-old man, from Blakelaw in Newcastle, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car while waiting for a bus on West Denton Way, in West Denton, Newcastle. Joe's girlfriend Abi-Leigh Ross and another woman were also injured in the incident, which happened around 4pm on Sunday October 15.



Steven Wallace, of Millfield Close, Newburn, appeared in court for the first time today after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, driving over the legal limit for drugs. and driving without insurance.

The 22-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during a brief hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court this morning. The case has been committed to Newcastle Crown Court, where Wallace will appear next month.

The presiding judge, Margaret Higgins, said: “This case will be heard at the Crown Court on July 15 at 10 a.m. That's all for today.”
