Man acquitted in fatal North Providence stabbing

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A not guilty verdict was returned Monday in a manslaughter case in North Providence.

The jury acquitted Mark Santilli, 62, after a three-day trial, according to court documents.

The charge stems from the stabbing death of Torrezz Lumpkins, 29, in October 2021. Police called the incident a domestic incident at the time, saying the two men knew each other.

Santilli was initially arrested on murder charges, but that charge was downgraded to manslaughter a few months later.
