Man Accused Of Trying To Drown 2 Children In West Haven: Reports

WEST HAVEN, CT — A New York man was arrested Friday morning after police said he tried to drown his two children at a beach in West Haven, according to multiple reports.

The incident happened around 2:30 am as an officer was patrolling near Ocean and Dawson Avenues, WFSB reported. The officer noticed a Nissan SUV parked on the beach and heard screams coming from the water.

The officer followed the screams, according to a WTNH report, and discovered a man “deliberately drowning his (two small) children.”

Additional officers and boats from the West Shore Fire Department responded and were able to pull the children from the water, reports said. Both were taken to the hospital where they remain in intensive care.

The man was identified as Romney Desronvil, 41, of Queens, according to reports. He is currently in police custody in West Haven, pending charges.
