Man accused of Charleston-area stabbing arrested in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A man accused of a Charleston-area stabbing was arrested Monday in Pee Dee.

The Florence Police Department said Akem Smith was taken into custody after his vehicle was found by the city's Flock camera system. The Florence County Sheriff's Office assisted in locating the vehicle and arresting Smith.

Smith was wanted in connection with a stabbing incident involving a juvenile victim in North Charleston that occurred Sunday. Florence police said the North Charleston Police Department obtained warrants for Smith and gave them information about the vehicle he was driving.

As of around 1:30 p.m. Monday, Smith was not listed in bookings at the Florence County Detention Center.
