Man accused in N. Harris County stabbings has long criminal history, records show

Authorities have released the identity of the man accused of stabbing two people in northern Harris County Wednesday evening after flagging them down as they passed by.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the attack happened in the 2500 block of Sandlewood Trail Lane around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect, Rafielle Andrews, 40, was charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials say Andrews flagged down a man and woman as they walked past and stabbed them both after they stopped. The woman was able to escape injured, but the man collapsed in his driveway after driving home and emergency services pronounced him dead.

Police were unable to calm Andrews at the scene, but were eventually able to subdue and arrest him without further violence.

Authorities believe Andrews has a history of mental illness and records confirmed his criminal history spans more than two decades.

Andrews has been charged with several violent crimes dating back to 1999, including robbery, assault causing bodily injury and injury to a child under 15 years old.

According to yesterday's report, authorities believe Andrews was visiting family at the time of the stabbing, and at this time we don't know what led up to the attack.
