Man, 60, killed in downtown Milwaukee shooting, suspect arrested

MILWAUKEE — A 60-year-old woman has died following a shooting Saturday afternoon in downtown Milwaukee.

Officials with the Milwaukee Police Department said the incident was related to domestic violence and occurred near N. Cass and E. Wells streets just before 1 p.m.

On Saturday evening, MPD also confirmed that a 59-year-old man, who they said fled the scene, had been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting.

A witness told TMJ4's Tahleel Mohieldin that he saw a police officer pull someone out of a car stopped on N. Cass St. That car, which appeared to belong to the victim, was later towed away with a police escort.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Chaplins and the Salvation Army Crisis Response Team were on scene to support the family.

Police cordoned off the area for about three hours while investigators monitored the scene. MPD officials also said the charges are pending review by the county attorney's office.
