Man, 34, accused of violently stabbing Hollywood FX special makeup artist

A 34-year-old man faces life in prison after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and stabbing her more than 20 times, leaving her seriously injured, authorities said Wednesday.

The violence took place around 4:30 a.m. on May 23 in the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Nick Pasqual is accused of repeatedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, 35, a makeup artist and special effects producer known for her work in feature films including “Rebel Moon,” “Mean Girls” and “Babylon,” who had recently filed a restraining order against him.

Shehorn was discovered by her surrogate mother who was staying with her that night. The 35-year-old woman suffered multiple cuts to her neck and was cut up and down her arms and abdomen, friends told KTLA.

She has since undergone several surgeries to stop the bleeding and repair the severed tendons and remains hospitalized.

After the violent attack, Pasqual fled to Texas and was later arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Bianca, Texas, the release said.

Pasqual was charged by the prosecutor's office with one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary and one count of injury to a spouse, common-law partner, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or parent of a child.

An arrest warrant in the amount of more than $1 million was issued for Pasqual on May 24. An arraignment has not yet been scheduled.

“My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the victim of this horrific incident,” said District Attorney George Gascón. “Our office, including our Office of Victim Services, is providing support and resources as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from the physical and emotional trauma inflicted on her. This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the person responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.

If convicted as charged, Pasqual faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
