Man, 25, in custody after stabbing outside migrant shelter in Clinton Hill

Police said a man was stabbed twice in the chest Thursday outside a Clinton Hill migrant shelter and a suspect was apprehended.

Authorities say the stabbing happened shortly after noon at the intersection of Hall Street and Flushing Avenue. A verbal argument between the victim, a 20-year-old man, and the suspect over a parked moped took place, which led to the stabbing.

It is unclear what weapon was used in the attack, according to police.

One man is in custody, Cristian Concepcion, 25, who lives at the shelter. Concepcion now faces charges of felonious assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

Brooklyn residents in the area expressed frustration over the incident, saying that with so many people in a small space, it was unfortunately entirely expected.

“You can't have 4,000 people locked in one shelter and then expect nothing to happen. It's almost like a prison and then when you have that, violence will take place. I get reports that ambulances are still in the neighborhood because things are happening and they're not being reported,” says Hon. Renee Collymore of the 57th Democratic Liaison District.

As for the neighborhood, officials say three new shelters opened in the area last year.
