Man, 25, charged in stabbing at Union Station

(WBBM NEWS RADIO) — Chicago police have charged a man who allegedly attacked a woman near Union Station, stabbing her multiple times and leaving her seriously injured.

Wilson Barreno, 25, of Oakland, California, was charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery.

Chicago police said it happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when they said Barreno allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times with what was described as a “sharp object.”

Barreno fled the scene, but the victim's husband said a stranger managed to help catch the attacker.

First responders took the woman to a nearby local hospital where she continues to recover.

Barreno is scheduled to appear in court Friday for a detention hearing.
