Man, 24, killed in Danville shooting

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) – A 24-year-old man is dead after a shooting Tuesday in Danville, according to the Danville Police Department.

Police said Richard Lee Wilson Jr., 22, is charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Woodside Village apartment complex in the 1300 block of Piney Forest Road at 10:49 p.m.

Police say Tasean Delvecchio Farmer, 24, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment.

Farmer was transported to SOVAH Health where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation and police say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

Wilson is in custody in North Carolina after fleeing the scene, according to police.
