Man, 24, accused of stabbing his parents in Isabella County | Crime

Police said a 24-year-old man stabbed his 42-year-old mother and 43-year-old father as they slept at their residence on Winn Road in Isabella County early Saturday.

ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – Police have arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his parents as they slept in their Isabella County residence early Saturday.

The Isabella County Sheriff's Office said the parents were sleeping in their home in the 1000 block of South Winn Road in Fremont Township when their son attacked them around 4 a.m.

Police say the parents woke up to the attack and were able to defend themselves. The 42-year-old mother and 43-year-old father both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Two young children were sleeping elsewhere in the residence at the time of the attack, but they were not injured.

The suspect, aged 24, fled before police arrived. Investigators tracked him to a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 127 near St. Johns, so they asked police in Gratiot and Clinton counties to search for him.

Clinton County Sheriff's Office deputies spotted the suspect less than an hour after the attack and conducted a traffic stop, where they arrested the suspect.

The suspect, who police did not identify, was transported north to the Isabella County Jail to await arraignment on criminal charges related to the incident. The sheriff's office was considering filing charges of attempted murder.
