Malta man identified as suspect in mobile home shooting | News

MALTA — A 49-year-old Malta resident has been identified as a suspect in a shooting at a mobile home in the city.

Kurt M. Hubbard, of the Locust Grove Motel, was found dead Friday after being shot.

Police said in a statement that Hubbard attacked a resident of Northway Estates Community, a mobile home park, chasing the person as they retreated into a room in the residence. One of the residents participating in the attack then shot Hubbard with a shotgun, firing two bullets and killing Hubbard.

Police were called to the incident at 11:29 a.m. Friday, where they found Hubbard dead.

“I would like to thank the residents of Northway Estates and community members who came forward and assisted our investigators,” said Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo. “As I said Friday, I am confident there is no threat to the community. For the moment, the investigation has not revealed any criminal behavior on the part of the resident who appears to have defended himself inside his home against a subject he did not know. I caution that this investigation is far from over and we will make no further statements until it is complete. »
