Major delays along I-80 in Sacramento near the Capital City Expressway

To avoid traffic, drivers can take Elkhorn Boulevard to Watt Avenue. To get to Highway 50, people can take Greenback Lane to Sunrise Boulevard.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two crashes caused serious delays along westbound Interstate 80 in Sacramento on Thursday.

An early morning crash involving a big rig occurred before 4 a.m. on the southbound Capital City Expressway near Watt Avenue. The on-ramp was closed for a few hours and one lane has since reopened. There are still delays on the road.

A second crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. along westbound I-80 in Sacramento near the Capital City Freeway divider, further impacting traffic in the area.

To avoid traffic, drivers can take Elkhorn Boulevard to Watt Avenue. To get to Highway 50, people can take Greenback Lane to Sunrise Boulevard.
