Madison man arrested for 4th OWI after fleeing police

MCFARLAND, Wis. (WMTV) – A 32-year-old Madison man was arrested Tuesday evening for his fourth OWI offense after allegedly fleeing from officers, the McFarland Police Department reports.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., a McFarland officer attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 51 near Siggelkow Road. The police department says the vehicle parked on a nearby dead-end road before fleeing from the officer.

Police say the vehicle turned around and the officer was able to deploy a tire deflation device. The vehicle fled again but was found abandoned shortly after.

McFarland PD says the two occupants of the vehicle left and fled on foot. Police were able to locate the 32-year-old Madison man who was hiding in the woods.

The man was taken into custody. The other occupant has not been located.

McFarland PD says the man showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for his fourth OWI offense. He also faces charges of resisting and acting, eluding, operating after revocation and failure to install an ignition interlock device.

According to the police department, the 32-year-old man is on parole for hit and run causing death and had a probation and parole warrant.
