Officers recovered a firearm from Dana Loder, a 30-year-old Lynnfield resident, at the scene of the shooting shortly after 10 p.m., Boston police said in a news release Tuesday morning. He faces three firearms-related charges, one drug charge and one charge of resisting arrest in connection with the incident.

Officers went to Boston Common after hearing gunshots while patrolling the area of Tremont and Winter streets, police said. At the scene, they saw several people running away in different directions, including a “suspicious” man who was holding the front of his belt with both hands.

Officers ordered the man – who was later identified as Loder – to stop, but he continued to run away and may have been at the scene dropping a gun on the ground as he was trying to escape, police said. They pursued Loder and eventually arrested him near 131 Tremont St.
