Lynchburg police investigate shooting at tobacco and vape store near Old Forest Road

The Lynchburg Police Department is reporting a shooting at a tobacco store in the Old Forest Road area of ​​Lynchburg on Saturday, May 25. (LPD)

UPDATE 7:06 p.m. — Lynchburg police say they are looking for Savon Lavay Ellis, 23, for shooting a teenager Saturday.

LPD says the shooting happened at LB Tobacco and Vape Shop at 3207B Forest Brook Road just before 3 p.m. The 18-year-old victim was reportedly taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before police arrived on scene.


Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other and were arguing before the shooting. They are looking for Ellis, wanted on the following charges:

  • Malicious injury
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a crime
  • Careless handling of a firearm
  • Unloading a firearm in town
  • Shooting in a public place causing injury
  • Possession of a concealed weapon

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

Anyone with information on Ellis' whereabouts or the shooting is asked to contact LPD.
