UPDATE – REOPENED: LA 518 Bridges near Athens, Claiborne Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, the recently under construction LA 518 bridges are now OPEN to traffic.

These bridges are located east of LA 9 near the village of Athens in Claiborne Parish. (see map included)

The two bridges located on LA 518 were removed and replaced with modern concrete structures as part of the $5.7 million project. Another off-grid bridge located on a parish-owned road (Keen Road) which is also being replaced as part of this project is not yet open to traffic again.

DOTD will issue a notification when Keen Road has been officially reopened.

DOTD sincerely appreciates the patience of the communities who use these structures while this work was underway.
