LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Louisa County man who pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition in the Turks and Caicos Islands will be sentenced Tuesday morning, according to his wife.

Tyler Wenrich's wife, Jeriann Wenrich, told 8News that her husband will appear before a judge for sentencing at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28. He could potentially be sentenced to 12 years in prison, due to mandatory minimum sentencing laws for firearms and ammunition. -crimes related to the island.

More than a month ago, on April 23, Wenrich was arrested after two hunting bullets were allegedly found in his backpack during a cruise stop on Grand Turk. He was on that cruise to celebrate a friend's bachelor party, according to his family.

According to his wife, Wenrich may have been carrying the same bag he takes to the shooting range on the cruise.

Wenrich pleaded guilty during his plea hearing on Tuesday, May 21.

“I hope the judge finds some compassion and leniency in the situation I find myself in,” Wenrich told ABC News at the time of that hearing.

Wenrich is one of five Americans recently arrested on similar charges. One of them, Bryan Hagerich of Oklahoma, received a suspended sentence Friday May 24and a fine of nearly $7,000.

While Hagerich managed to avoid prison time, Wenrich and the three other Americans won't know if they will receive similar sentences until they go before a judge.
