LONG BEACH — A Los Angeles man was in custody Tuesday on suspicion of killing a woman he was dating in Long Beach, authorities said.

Timothy Campbell, 35, was arrested Monday in the shooting death of Myriam Zaragoza, 43, who was found wounded June 19 around 3:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

She died on the spot.

Campbell was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held on $2 million bail, according to the LBPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

“Detectives determined that the victim and suspect were in a romantic relationship,” police said in a statement. “The motive remains under investigation; however, it is believed to be an incident of domestic violence.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for review.
