Los Angeles County 'Post-Fire' Reaches Ventura County Lines

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. — A wildfire in northwest Los Angeles County reached the Ventura County line near the Los Padres National Forest on Sunday.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the so-called “post-fire” entered Ventura County and consumed approximately 2,000 acres of wilderness in the southeastern portion of the Las Padres National Forest , south of Hungry Valley.

The VCFD said in an X message that it had sent more than 125 firefighters to fight the wildfire. The VCFD also said fire crews attacked the fire from both the air and the ground.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fire in Gorman started just after 1:45 p.m. Saturday near Gorman Road and Ranch Road, near southbound Interstate 5.

Currently, the wildfire has burned over 14,000 acres and is 2% contained.

According to LACFD, more than 1,200 people in the Gorman area have been evacuated.

The fire continues to burn south toward Pyramid Lake, making smoke visible to Ventura County residents.

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles says gusty winds are expected through Monday, leading to a critical fire with hot and dry conditions in and around Santa Barbara County.

According to the VC Emergency website, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office is closely monitoring the ensuing fire.

“At this time, the fire does not pose a risk to Ventura County, but Ventura County Fire and Ventura County Emergency Services personnel remain in close contact with Los Angeles County if wind conditions are changing and the fire is threatening our area,” the VC said. Emergency site.
