LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy is accused of smuggling drugs into a Los Angeles County jail complex in Castaic.

Deputy Michael Meiser, 39, was arrested on felony charges April 30, according to inmate records.

The deputy worked for the anti-gang unit known as Operation Safe Jails, a special investigative unit within the prison tasked with arresting exactly what he is accused of.

“It's very ironic, but on the other hand, in talking with deputies who currently work for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, they said that it's actually quite common that things like these- These are happening,” said Saren Prime of Prime Initiative. and a former MP.
