Logan Co. sheriff helps with placement after cats found abandoned

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – Thirty cats were found locked in cages and abandoned on the side of the street near Backhaus and West Industrial Roads in Logan County on Monday.

“They range from adults to newborns,” said Undersheriff Troy Dykes of the Logan County Sheriff's Office. “Were exposed to the elements, bad weather, sun, heat, without adequate shelter, food or water. »

Undersheriff Dykes said three people were arrested Tuesday in connection with the incident. They will likely be charged with animal cruelty.

Meanwhile, the cats are currently in the hands of the nonprofit Helping Community Paw and Claws Inc., led by Lisa New.

“It's probably a matter of a few hours and they see that they probably would have overheated,” New said. “It doesn’t take much for a cat to overheat and die.”

Lisa asks for help.

“I was really impressed. I was pretty overwhelmed last night,” New said.

She created an Amazon wish list. Monetary donations are also welcome.

“I pray people see the story,” New said. “They are all in good health. They will be repaired this week, so they will be ready for adoption.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Logan County Sheriff's Office at (405) 282-4100.
