LIVE updates on Rajkot fire mishap: 'Responsible persons will be identified', SIT chief assures 'detailed investigation'

Rajkot Fire LIVE Updates: At least 27 people were killed in a Rajkot games hall fire on Saturday. The fire broke out at a play area in Rajkot, Gujarat, around 4:30 pm on May 25, killing people, including children. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, who visited the spot early on May 26, told ANI that an SIT investigation had been initiated. He added that all officials have been summoned to the Collector's office early on Sunday from where he will carry out his duties.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced on May 25 that the state government would provide 4 lakh as ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and 50,000 to the injured. Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava told ANI that police had taken two people – the owner and manager of the gambling hall – for questioning.

Rajkot Fire Live Updates: 30 ICU beds prepared at AIIMS Rajkot for treatment of injured

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said 30 ICU beds have been prepared at AIIMS Rajkot to treat those injured in the Rajkot fire tragedy that claimed lives to 27 people.

In a post on X, Mandaviya also expressed her deepest condolences to the grieving families who lost their loved ones.

“The news of the death of children and people due to fire in Rajkot is very sad. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who died in this incident,” Mandaviya said.

“30 ICU beds have been prepared at AIIMS Rajkot for the best treatment of the injured. Along with this, instructions have also been given to AIIMS to provide comprehensive assistance,” he added in the message.

The head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the Rajkot fire tragedy case said on Sunday that a thorough investigation would be conducted and the responsible persons identified.

A massive fire broke out on the evening of May 25 at a gaming zone in Gujarat's Rajkot city, resulting in the loss of 27 lives, including children.
