Live: Poplar 'stabs' updates as man fights for life

A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the early hours of the morning. Met Police rushed to Cotton Street, E14, at around 5.10am this morning (June 1) and found two men in their 30s.

One of the men is in a life-threatening condition, while MyLondon is awaiting an update on the condition of the other. There were no arrests.




Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote reference 1419/01jun.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 5.10am on Saturday June 1 to Cotton Street, E14. Officers attended as well as the London Ambulance Service.

“Two men, both aged in their 30s, were taken to hospital. The condition of one of them was judged to be life-threatening.

“We are awaiting an assessment regarding the second man. Investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances.

“There have been no arrests. Anyone with information and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call 101 and quote reference 1419/01jun. To remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers.”

A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.06am today (June 1) to reports of a stabbing in Cotton Street, E14.

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and members of our joint response unit. We also dispatched the Air Ambulance from London.

“We treated two patients on scene before taking one to a major trauma center and another patient to a hospital.”

Other stabbings in the neighborhood last night

There was another stabbing in the area last night, just over 3 kilometers away. Police rushed to East Ferry Road, near the intersection with Manchester Road, E14, at around 1.15am this morning (Saturday June 1) to reports of a stabbing.
