LIVE: Boy, 17, dies in Bromley motorbike crash and another teenager arrested as road closed for 12 hours

A 17-year-old boy has died after a crash in south London last night (Sunday June 9). Another teenager who was with him was taken to hospital before being arrested.

They were found by an off-duty police officer on a busy road in Biggin Hill.




Detectives believe the motorcycle may have been near a car at the time of the collision, but that car did not stop at the scene.

The police are trying to find the driver.

The main Biggin Hill road has been closed since midnight in both directions between Saltbox Hill and Sunningvale Avenue.

The following six London buses are on route following investigation work: 246, 320, 464, 664, 684 and R2.

There will be delays in the area. Drivers should only go there if necessary and leave with plenty of time.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At around 11.58pm on Sunday June 9, an off-duty police officer came across a motorbike which had been involved in a collision on Main Road, Biggin Hill. Two men, both teenagers, were given first aid before the London Ambulance Service arrived.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, one of the men, aged 17, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.

“A second man was taken to hospital, where his condition was deemed not to be life-threatening. He was arrested and taken to a south London police station.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.59pm on Sunday June 9 to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Main Road and Sunningvale Avenue, Biggin Hill. We sent an ambulance crew and paramedics in rapid response cars to the scene.

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene approximately five minutes later. Unfortunately, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. »

Road closed for 12 hours

The main road in Biggin Hill has been closed for 12 hours following the fatal crash. A 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second was taken to hospital and has since been arrested. He remains in detention.
