Lil Zay Osama pleads guilty to gun charge

Lil Zay Osama officially pleaded guilty to a serious gun charge in a Brooklyn, New York courtroom and now faces a serious federal sentence.

According to New York Daily Newsthe Chicago rapper (real name Isaiah Dukes) entered his plea Thursday, May 30, at the federal courthouse in Brooklyn.

“I knowingly possessed a firearm that was a machine gun in Queens County on September 29, 2022,” he said. “I know it was wrong and against the law.”

Lil Zay Osama was in possession of a modified machine gun – a .40 caliber Glock pistol with a switch that turned it into a fully automatic weapon – which he left in the back of a carpool in September 2022.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.

According to arrest records obtained by HipHopDXThe “Fuck My Cousin” rapper was charged with possession of a loaded machine gun in December 2023, theft of stolen property in excess of $10,000 but not more than $100,000 and possession of a firearm with a license number gradient series.

All three charges are felonies.

Fox 32 Chicago reported that the alleged incident occurred on December 13. According to the outlet, Lil Zay Osama was with two friends – Jeremiah Dawson, 21, and Travon Garland, 19 – in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook when they were spotted by police.

Police received information about “a vehicle linked to a man suspected of participating in an investigation into an armed robbery at a jewelry store in New York.”

It is unclear which of the three men is suspected of the alleged crime committed in New York. Lil Zay Osama's 2022 New York arrest was also prompted by suspicious activity involving a vehicle.

Police began pursuing the Chicago rapper and his two friends when the car made a series of illegal maneuvers. At one point, a police helicopter was even deployed to try to find the car.

“Police found a loaded Glock 29 with a laser, an extended magazine and a switch that converts the weapon to a fully automatic machine gun, as well as a loaded Glock 19 with a fifty-round drum magazine and a defaced serial number inside the Dodge,” reports Fox 32.

Lil Zay Osama also allegedly wore a necklace worth $90,000 linked to the New York jewelry store robbery, although it is unclear whether he was actually involved in the robbery or just had it benefited.
