“Like a punch in the face,” says brother of missing woman found dead | WDHN

HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Family members of Crystal Jarvis are shocked and devastated after discovering she never returned home safely after being missing for five days.

“We thought she was going to appear but she didn't and it was like a punch in the face when they found her deceased, so it's a tough time right now,” said his brother Eddie Jarvis.

During a welfare check by law enforcement on Monday, Jarvis was found behind an abandoned lake house in the 2500 block of Calhoun Drive, just minutes from the location where she frequently lived with someone.

His autopsy showed no signs of foul play, but his brother found it strange that a person of interest in custody had now been released – still leaving more questions than answers about this mysterious death.

“The first thing that comes to mind is no foul play, why was there a person of interest, we're going to sit back and let the sheriff do his job,” he said.

The family says Jarvis disappeared last Tuesday, when she was released from jail in Eufaula on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Before her arrest earlier today, her brother said she was at a gas station pretending someone was going to kill her. they lost contact with her on Tuesday, when she was released, and never heard from her again.

“Hug your loved ones, you never know when it will be the last time,” he said.

Jarvis says his sister was a construction worker who renovated houses on the side – she never met a stranger and had a huge heart.

“She loved God and it was never a dull moment with her,” he said.

Her family created a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses because she did not have life insurance.

“Anything can help in the current situation,” he added.

She leaves behind a mother, four children and four brothers.
