Life sentence confirmed for man in fatal stabbing attack on foreigners in Seoul

An appeals court on Friday upheld a life sentence for a man charged over a deadly stabbing attack in Seoul last year that left a foreigner killed and three others injured.

The Seoul High Court handed down the judgment regarding Cho Seon, 34, who went on a random stabbing rampage near Sillim Station in southwest Seoul in July last year.

A 22-year-old unknown man was stabbed to death, while three other men were injured in the attack.

Cho, who was unknown to all of the victims, initially told investigators that a feeling of inferiority made him want to hurt people who seemed happy, but later claimed that mental and physical disorders were his motivations. crimes.

Prosecutors had sought the death penalty against him.
