Liberty Township. promotes and hires employees for the fire department

Battalion Chief Christopher Oakes, Butler Tech graduate and certified EMT, CPR and ACLS instructor. Oakes is also earning a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership from Northern Kentucky University. He has been with the LTFD for 18 years and most recently served as Captain.

Captain John Walsh, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Walsh is an EMS instructor and a member of Butler County Technical Rescue. He has been with the LTFD for nine years and most recently served as a lieutenant.

Lt. Adam Shappelle, who received his firefighter training at Butler Tech and Bowling Green State University and also earned an associate's degree in leadership with the Cincinnati State Fire Department. Shappelle has been a member of LTFD for 16 years and has served on various fire industry boards/committees including: Southwest Ohio Protocol Committee, Mentoring Team, Survey Team on Butler County Fire, Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Butler County EMS Committee. .

Tomas Bilson, career firefighter/EMT and former member of the United States Marine Corps, where he studied military intelligence. After the Marine Corps, he earned his associate's degree in general studies at the American Military University. He has been a firefighter for three months.

John Davidson, career firefighter/EMT and graduate of Turpin High School. He is currently in paramedical school. Prior to his firefighter training, he served four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps as a diesel mechanic and tow truck operator.

Tyler Davies, career firefighter/EMT and Lakota West High School graduate who earned his fire certification from Sinclair Community College and his EMT certification from Cincinnati State. He has been a part-time member of LTFD for six months and resides in Liberty Township.

Elijah Emmons, career firefighter/EMT, and graduate of Badin High School and the Fire Rescue Academy at Butler Tech. He has been a part-time member of the LTFD for six months.

A pinning ceremony was held June 4 during the regular board meeting.
